Record breaking year for Club Support

Golf Qld Club Support Workshops

Increased demand for workshops, record grant funding for clubs, and more clubs mentored than ever before, Golf Queensland’s Club Support and Development Program (CSAD) has enjoyed phenomenal results in the last year.

In 2017, Queensland golf clubs received $1.9m in grants. To help golf clubs access various funding opportunities, Golf Queensland, with the assistance of Red Tape Busters, offers a Grant Writing Assistance Program to golf clubs at no cost to the club.

“Red tape Busters were great. Our new multi-purpose cart storage shed has helped new junior membership and provided much needed revenue for the club,” said John Dalton- of Kingaroy Golf Club.

Change was certainly the buzz word for golf clubs in 2017 as many clubs took a red pen to their constitutions. Common themes for change included flexible memberships, streamlining committees and the use of By-Laws by management committees.

Shared opportunities for golf clubs provided a platform for a record 223 people attending workshops and forums in 2017, and that demand has increased in 2018.

‘The Sport of Business - Retaining Membership and Increasing Participation’ workshops facilitated by Damian Brown (Creating Innovative Teams) led the charge, solving problems and providing ongoing solutions for clubs.

“We are passionate about supporting golf clubs to increase participation and assist with developing strategies to sustain clubs into the future,” Mr Brown said.

Golf Queensland’s network of Club Support contractors provided mentoring and support to 97 golf clubs last year. The contractors, Damian Brown, Jen Corsbie (The Sports Edge), Paul Mead (PM), Mike Orloff (Golf Industry Central), and Steve Connelly (CPR Group), provide support in most areas of club operation, both face to face and remotely.

Golf Queensland Club Support provides on-line and on-site services for golf clubs across Queensland. Visit the Club Support area or phone (07) 3252 8155.
