Luck keen to get name on Stonehaven

Curtis Luck, the charismatic young Perth professional who walked the hallowed fairways of Augusta National this year, is coming back to play the Emirates Australian Open.

Luck, 21, who made the cut at the famous Masters tournament after earning his place as the 2016 US Amateur champion, has confirmed he will tee it up in the Open at The Australian Golf Club from 23-26 November.

Luck was tied-11th at the Open last year at Royal Sydney, when he played as one of the hottest amateurs in the world.

This time, he will step out as one of this country's brightest young professional stars, having played 10 tournaments on the United States PGA Tour during the 2016-17 season, earning $US360,000.

During this time he finished tied-fifth at the Quicken Loans National event in July but the high point was his 46th place in the Masters tournament at Augusta National. He was one of only two amateurs to make the cut.

Luck has already won a professional tournament, the 2016 WA Open, the same year that he became one of the handful of Australians to win the prestigious US Amateur title as well as the Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship.

The Western Australian star said he was delighted to take his place in the field, having completed his year's work in America.

"I'm extremely excited to come back to Sydney and play this year's Australian Open. I have many fond memories from last year and look forward to having another go at getting my name on the Stonehaven Cup!"

The Australian Golf Club if a familiar venue for him as well. "I was fortunate enough to play the Australian Amateur at The Australian in 2015. It's a great tournament venue and I can't wait to play it set up for are national open."

The Open field is to be headed by world Number 2 Jordan Spieth, the brilliant American who will defend the title he won at Royal Sydney last year, and Jason Day, Australia's most recent major champion.

The Emirates Australian Open is a flagship tournament on the ISPS Handa PGA Tour of Australasia. The winner will receive a minimum of 32 Official World Golf Ranking points.
