Jason Day said all he wanted to do was knock the rust off at the Hyundai Tournament of Champions in Hawaii.

Mission accomplished.

The world No.2 fired a final-round eight-under-par 65 today to soar up the leaderboard, finishing 15 under, behind runaway leader Jordan Spieth.

Day improved steadily throughout the tournament on the Plantation Course at Kapalua, but his highlight came on the par-5 5th hole today when he made eagle to set up his round.

But this was no ordinary eagle, landing it from a mere 25m away.

So far away was the putt that Day didn’t bother walking to pick it out of the cup, instead laughing as he turned toward the next tee and allowing caddie Col Swatton to do the honours.
