A final round of 62 by Australian Scott Gardiner has secured a share of second position at the News Sentinel Open at the Fox Den Golf Club in Knoxville in Tennessee.
Gardiner was forced to wait more than two hours to see whether his 17 under par total would be good enough to hold out those behind on the golf course.
The low scoring nature of the Fox Den layout worked against him however and it would be the 54 hole leader, Darron Stiles, who came form behind to secure his 5th Web.com Tour win and the right to play on the PGA Tour in 2013 with a one shot victory.
Gardiner, though, moves to 17th position on the money list improving from 25th as a result of his week’s work and while his first PGA Tour card is not yet secure he is well enough placed as the Tour moves into the last eight events of the season.
Gavin Coles was the next best of the Australasians in this week’s field when he finished 20th, Nathan Green was 24th and Aaron Price and Tim Wilkinson were 31st.
