Star of the show: Adam Scott went so close to winning his maiden major title at Royal Lytham and St Annes on Sunday. Scott topped the leaderboard at the end of the first and third rounds of The Open Championship with very solid golf but bogeys at his final four holes opened the door for Ernie Els to claim his fourth major title. Despite the disappointment Scott would still be happy with much of his week including a new preparation, which focuses on the majors. The 32-year-old will head into the US PGA with plenty of confidence.
Breakout of the week: Having missed the cut at the previous five Open Championships, Geoff Ogilvy's share of ninth place was a huge result for the 35-year-old. Ogilvy stormed home in the fourth round with four birdies in seven holes to card a three-under 67. The 2006 US Open champion finished on even par for the tournament, just three shots off a tie for third.
Shot of the week: With no videos available from The Open, we take a look back at the shot from Bubba Watson that set up his amazing win at the US Masters in April.
Tweet of the week: @geoffogilvy - I am happy for Ernie, but I feel sick right now - Ogilvy in response to Scott's cruel finish.
What lies ahead: Plenty of Australians are set to take it easy the week after The Open Championship but Robert Allenby, Nick O'Hern and Mathew Goggin are set to fly the flag at the Canadian Open that starts on Thursday on the outskirts of Toronto. The Austrian Open starts a day earlier with six Australians involved.
After a week off, the Ladies European Tour heads to France for the Evian Masters, with Karrie Webb leading a group of six Australians.
From the Couch: The first three days of the Austrian Open will be broadcast on Fox Sports 1 from 10pm, while the fourth round will be on Fox Sports 3. The Canadian Open will also be on Fox Sports, starting live at 5am each day from Friday. Fox Sports are also showing the Evian Masters live from Thursday until Sunday.
