Western Australia completed a successful defence of the Gladys Hay Memorial Cup with a resounding 6-0 win over Victoria in the final of the Australian Women’s Interstate Teams Matches at West Lakes Golf Club in Adelaide.

The Western Australian side lost to the Victorians on Thursday but found revenge in the final.

“It’s really hard to win tournaments like this back-to-back but it’s great to be able to get it done,” WA Captain Whitney Hillier said.

Victoria finished the championship in second place.

Queensland won the first Consolation Final, defeating New South Wales 4-2 to finish in third place.

In the second Consolation Final, South Australia defeated Tasmania 4-3.

The 2013 Australian Women’s Interstate Teams Matches will be held at Royal Hobart Golf Club.

Final Round

New South Wales prevailed over Tasmania to win the Australian Men’s Interstate Teams Matches at Royal Adelaide Golf Club for the first time since 2007.

The New South Wales side defeated the Tasmanians 5.5-2.5, ending their hopes of a first men’s title since 1977.

NSW captain Dimi Papadatos said he was pleased with the win in his first year as captain.

“We’ve had a good week. All of the guys get along and this has been a great course to play on, so we’re really happy,” Papadatos said.

Victoria defeated South Australia 6-2 in the first Consolation Final.

In the second Consolation Final, Queensland narrowly defeated Western Australia.

The 2013 Australian Men’s Interstate Teams Matches will also be held at Tasmania Golf Club.

NB: There were no undefeated players in either championship
